Self-Assign Just Got Smarter: Updates to On the Spot! for Mobile and Web Users

May 17, 2025 - Reading time: 3 minutes

An important update to the self-assign feature in the On the Spot! application is now available. The process has been redesigned to make it more efficient, intuitive, and accessible for all users.

The self-assign process has been refined to give professionals more control and clarity when selecting events to join. Whether you're an independent interpreter or working within an organization, it's now easier to take ownership of assignments directly through the app.

Mobile application improvements

For those using the On the Spot! mobile app, self-assigning is now faster and more responsive. The interface has been streamlined to reduce steps, improve confirmation feedback, and ensure you always know the status of your assignment.

Web application enhancements

We’ve also updated the web version to support users who have not yet transitioned to the mobile app or are working in hybrid environments. Interpreters and organizations can now manage assignments more easily via the browser - improving coordination and reducing friction across teams.

Flow Bridge integration

One of the most impactful changes is the ability for the self-assign option to now interact with events scheduled through Flow Bridge. Flow Bridge is used when a language service provider outsources the fulfillment of an event to a partner organization. With this update, when a professional self-assigns to a Flow Bridge event, the system automatically transfers the vendor information back to the organization that posted the original request - making the entire fulfillment process more transparent and connected.

Why it matters

This update reflects our commitment to supporting real-world workflows. We recognize that not all users are on the same platform or follow the same process. By improving both mobile and web experiences - and strengthening how self-assign works across systems like Flow Bridge - we’re making it easier for everyone to stay connected, respond quickly, and deliver excellent service.

We encourage all users to explore the new self-assign flow and share feedback. These updates are just one step in our ongoing effort to help professionals and organizations work better - on the spot.
